Element Pro X79 - Taking to Extremes

Our flagship Element gets a reboot and returns revitalised and ready to run your professionally creative environment.

Confident and Self Assured

Element doesn’t mess about, it puts all its power to the road. Track counts and plug-in balancing are for other systems to worry about. Element sits back and just keeps on giving. If you’re looking to realise the potential in Pro Tools 10, or wanting to push Cubase to the limits, or are tired of hitting processor ceilings when your creativity wants to keep on going then Element X79 is where you need to place your trust. It’s the backbone of your studio, the machine that says yes to everything you want to throw at it, the system that lets you get on with producing stunning music, video and media content.

SandyBridge Extreme

Element X79 contains all of Intel’s latest technology, the X79 chipset, four channel RAM, Extreme 2011 pin 6 Core processors, but all you really need to know is that this is the best single processor audio production system available.

Designed for your gear

Tested, tweaked and tuned for flawless performance with Pro Tools, Cubase, Sonar, Adobe and all your creative software and hardware. Replacing an old system with a new Rain Element feels a bit like your studio is being reborn. With our expertise and guidance everything clicks into place, syncs up and projects that were struggling on your own system will be opened up to a whole new world of possibility. It's like your creative space has just got bigger and all the fog of complexity and compromise lifts and drains away.

How does it stack up against the Nimbus Z?

Element X79 follows the same evolutionary road that the Nimbus has taken but then steps beyond. It widens the bandwidth in every direction providing more data paths to the CPU, more lanes between interfaces on the motherboard and more cores to deal with the flow. This is high-end, premium, professional performance.

Let’s Cut to the Chase

Well meant hyperbole is one thing, it gives the impression that the Element X79 is something special – which it is. But what does any of it really mean – what are the facts about the Element X79?
  1. Based on the newest Intel technology
It’s the fastest thing Intel currently do. It incorporates the X79 chipset, the Sandy Bridge Extreme 6-Core CPU and a new 4 channel memory controller.
  2. Sandy Bridge Extreme
Sandy Bridge technology has been around since the beginning of 2011 and it brought in a lot of new aspects for Intel. It brought the memory controller on to the CPU for the first time shortening the physical distance between memory and processor. It uses a type of power management that allows the processor to step up speed on demand well past the advertised GHz speed while remaining stable.
  3. More processor pins
The Sandy Bridge Extreme processor has 2011 pins as opposed to 1155 on the original Sandy Bridge that we find in the Nimbus. This means that there is greater access to the CPU by the rest of the system which is what we’d call “bandwidth”. More data can flow more efficiently and so the Element could cope more effectively with DSP cards in its PCI and PCIe slots than the Nimbus.
  4. More Cores
The more cores you have the more information your system can process simultaneously. With 6 high performance, high speed cores running you can spend more time worrying about your music than whether you have enough processing power or not.
  5. Four channel RAM
Those extra pins also allows for the expansion of the memory controller so where the Nimbus has dual channel RAM the Element has four channels allowing for greater efficiency and faster movement of data. Subsequently this means the Element can handle up to 64GB of RAM, twice that of the Nimbus.
  6. Storage
Both the size of the case and our choice of motherboard provide a lot more space for hard drives. We tend to eat our way through GigaBytes of drive space very easily these days. Element has six SATAIII ports and 4 SATAII ports giving you room for 10 drives in the one machine.
  7. Reliability
The Sandy Bridge technology is now well proven. Over the past year it has shown itself to be one of the most stable, powerful and reliable sets of technology we’ve ever seen. Element is based on that technology so although it’s new it has a heritage that gives us no cause for concern which is safely confirmed with our thorough testing and tweaking.

Round it all off

To complete the Element we’ve got acoustic foam lining the side panels, high performance water cooling for the processor and the awesome stability and whisper quite operation of Enermax modular power supplies. We’ve gone with Windows 7 Professional as standard because Home Premium only supports up to 16GB of RAM. The video card is a good, solid, passively cooled one with VGA, DVI and HDMI outputs and will suffice for most users but if you need something more and a workstation card then we can do that too.
